Development Objective

Masifundise works with previously disadvantaged and traditional fishing communities who are dealing with the impact that the current fishery management regime has on the social, cultural and economic life in their communities.

Masifundise’s development objective is to contribute toward the eradication of poverty and the promotion of food sovereignty in small-scale fishing communities by advocating for peoples social and economic rights, in particular their right to equitable access to marine resource for livelihoods purposes. In doing so, key recognition is given to the need to build the capacity of coastal communities so that they themselves can engage in various programmes and activities to reach this objective.
