Mission
In pursuance of this vision, Masifundise, using a ‘people-centered development approach’, works to:
- Promote the right of fishing communities to gain access to marine resources for food security and livelihood purposes
- Engage in lobbying and advocacy programmes that seek to influence policy and legislation to protect and advance the human rights of men and women living in traditional and small scale fishing communities through an Integrated Coastal Management Approach
- Embark on integrated rural development programmes that will lead to rural fishing and coastal communities having access to land and all basic municipal services
- Support communities in engaging in local development initiatives with the aim of promoting food sovereignty and sustaining livelihoods
- Work with and build the capacity of local community leaders and organizations to enable them to organize and unite in action for their human and socio-economic rights
- Work with other national, regional and international organizations and movements that share and identify with our vision and mission
